Rumour: Kawasaki readying Z800 for launch

Kawasaki is looking set to expand its range in India with the launch of its Z800 motorcycle. The bike has been displayed at a Kawasaki dealership in Pune, which could be an indication that its launch is imminent.

Earlier this month, Kawasaki had started accepting bookings for the Z1000. This litre-class bike is expected to be launched by January 2014 and we don’t expect the Z800 to be far behind.

The Z800 is powered by an 806 cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, in-line 4-cylinder engine, developing 113 PS and 83 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox transmits this power to the rear wheel.

The Z800 uses a tubular backbone, high-tensile steel frame with a 41 mm inverted fork suspension at the front and a gas-charged monoshock at the rear. Dual 310 mm petal disc brakes and a single 250 mm petal disc brake mounted on the front and rear multi-spoke alloys respectively, provide the bike's stopping power.

Kawasaki is expected to bring the bike to India through the CKD route.
