Rumour: Fiat Urban Cross bookings commence

Fiat dealerships across the country have reportedly started accepting bookings for the Urban Cross. Interested customers are being asked to pay a booking amount of Rs. 21,000. It is expected to be launched later this month.

The Fiat Urban Cross was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. It is the second adventure themed version coming out from the Punto Evo hatchback, after the Avventura. The Urban Cross is essentially based on the Avventura crossover, though it misses out on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Other cosmetic changes on the model showcased at the Auto Expo included a redesigned front grille, new headlamps with LED inserts, and body coloured cladding. The showcased car also had silver roof rails and 17-inch alloy wheels, though they probably won't make it to the production model.

The Fiat Urban Cross will be powered a 1.4-litre T-Jet four-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of developing 138 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque @ 2,000-4,000 rpm. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Fiat might also launch a diesel version, powered by a 1.3-litre MJD unit that develops 92 BHP and 209 Nm of torque.
