Rumour: Fiat mulls Abarth-powered Linea for India

Fiat is rumoured to be considering an Abarth-powered version of the Linea sedan for India.

Like the Punto, the Linea Abarth could receive cosmetic and mechanical changes. While the cosmetic changes are likely to include badges, decals and different alloy wheels among others, mechanical updates could include a stiffer suspension and a lower ride height.

The Abarth Linea is likely to sport the same 1.4-litre, 145 BHP, turbocharged petrol engine that will be used in the upcoming Punto Abarth.

The Fiat Linea has been a slow seller in the C2 segment. While the Linea Abarth is not likely to boost sales of the sedan drastically, Fiat will be hoping that the addition of the variant keeps it appealing to enthusiasts.

Fiat introduced the Abarth brand in India last month with the launch of the Abarth 595 Competizione. The company is expected to launch the Punto Abarth in October and the Abarth-powered Avventura later.
