First breakdown of my Linea after clocking over 1.02L km on the odo

However, I was caught off guard with one more event which was officially Linea’s first breakdown and a tow vehicle had to be arranged.

Some updates after a while -

It’s mostly office runs and odo is hovering around 1023xx kms

Linea went through rough patch this time and wasn’t in pink of health. There was a weird battery drain issue occurring and vehicle won’t start if not driven for more than 3 days.

Since I was daily taking it to office, wasn’t able to catch this sooner until one dreadful day.

The good part was that it always happened at home. The annual service was also due so clubbed them together. The FNG guy came with a spare battery and took the car with them.

This was diagnosed that Blue&Me module which went kaput 6 months back is still sending signals/looking for source and eating battery.

Now, there were 2 options. One was to disconnect module which will solve the drain issue but the odo will keep blinking which was happening since last 6 months.

Other was to get a refurbished module connected which will restore Bluetooth telephony and stop odo blinking as well.

I went with the second approach.

Accordingly, vehicle was serviced and came back with bill of ₹14k (5k for the module).

And with that I thought I was done with ordeal. However, I was caught off guard with one more event which was officially Linea’s first breakdown and a tow vehicle had to be arranged.

Linea’s first breakdown

I got the clutch changed recently. However, the master/slave cylinder looked good (without leak), so they weren’t .

One fine evening, around 9:45 pm, I was with family coming back to my place from Aundh and just 3 kms from my place the clutch pedal went down and never came back.

I was surprised but calmly moved the car to left most lane and parked at a safe spot. Had a word with FNG and they confirmed it be a slave cylinder issue which wasn’t changed.

I have a RSA service on my car insurance policy but asked FNG guy to provide their trusted breakdown service number . This was beneficial since I wasn’t needed to tag along with car to the workshop which would have been mandatory if I would have chosen insurance RSA.

Asked family to leave for home in Uber and I got the help in an hour.

Slave cylinder is a costly part and further set me back by 13k(9.5k part) along with labour.

I was lucky again that this happened near my place and not in some desolated section.

As a lesson, I am planning to further prepone repair/replacement of all the known major components which can cause breakdown like alternator/starter motor/water pump etc.

Though I have started looking for an additional car for city duties, I trust this car 100% and plan to keep this for as long as I can.
