Rumour: 2016 Jaguar XF India launch this month

Recent media reports suggest that Jaguar is planning to launch the refreshed XF sedan in India in the second half of August 2016. At this year's Auto Expo, the British automaker had revealed its plans to launch three new products in the Indian market. The XE sedan launched at the Auto Expo was the first of these three scheduled products.

The 2016 Jaguar XF is based on a new platform, which helps it shed 190 kg of weight as compared to the model it replaces. With a length of 5,067 mm, the new XF is longer than the outgoing model, while the wheelbase too is stretched by 51 mm.

On the outside, the new XF gets a wider front grille, new headlamps with redesigned LED DRLs and a new bumper. The rear gets new LED taillights that look similar to the ones offered with the XE, a spoiler integrated on the boot lid and dual exhausts. It will also come with a new alloy wheel design.

Powertrain options would include both diesel and petrol engines. A 2.0-litre diesel is expected to churn out around 177 BHP and 430 Nm of torque. The petrol engine will be the same unit that powers the current-gen model, a 2.0-litre unit rated at 237 BHP and 340 Nm. The only transmission option available will be an 8-speed ZF automatic unit.
