Royal Enfield Hunter 450 spied; could be based on new Himalayan

The Hunter 450 will be the second model in Royal Enfield’s 450cc line-up. It could rival the Triumph Speed 400.

Royal Enfield is said to be working on a new 450cc motorcycle that could take on the Triumph Speed 400. The new roadster-style bike has been spotted earlier, but the latest reports suggest that it could use the same engine as the new Himalayan.

The Hunter 450 will be the second model in Royal Enfield’s 450cc line-up. Spy images reveal a road-biased design with an upright riding position. The bike has a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a circular headlamp and an instrument console.

The 452cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine produces 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm @ 5,500 rpm. Royal Enfield might offer the same tune on the Hunter 450. The engine is likely to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox via slip-and-assist clutch.

The test bike is fitted with a telescopic fork and has a rear mono-shock. The bike rides on alloy wheels and is equipped with disc brakes.
