Next-gen Ford Endeavour spotted testing in India

Earlier this month, we had reported that Ford had imported multiple units of the next-generation Ford Endeavour for R&D purposes. Now, a test mule of the vehicle has been spotted testing in Tamil Nadu. Based on the Ford Ranger pick-up, the new Endeavour sports a bulbous design compared to the outgoing model. It has a body-on-frame construction and a seven seater configuration.

The Endeavour, which is known as the Everest in international markets, features a prominent trapezoidal grille, projector headlamps, side steps, a roof-mounted rear spoiler and six-spoke alloy wheels. The bumpers, which have been camouflaged, are expected to sport skid plates. Even the interiors of the SUV are likely to be more modern compared to the outgoing model with a redesigned dashboard and centre console, modern controls for the air-conditioner and a new Ford SYNC2 infotainment system.

In India, engine options for the Endeavour are likely to include a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder and a 3.2-litre 5-cylinder diesel unit. The vehicle will be available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations with manual and automatic transmissions.

Ford is expected to assemble the Endeavour in India from CKD kits imported from Thailand. The SUV will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and SsangYong Rexton.
