New 7th-generation BMW M5 globally unveiled

The latest-gen BMW M5 is priced at $120,675.

BMW has taken the wraps off its latest-generation M5 performance sedan. The new 7th-gen BMW M5 comes with a host of updates both inside and out, along with an updated powertrain.

Starting off with the design, the new BMW M5 G90 features a more muscular styling with edgy surfaces. It gets a large but proportional kidney grille up front with an illuminated frame, new LED headlamps with a fresh DRL signature, and sporty bumpers at the front and rear. The car also features sleek LED tail lights, a diffuser, and quad exhausts.

Inside, the new M5 gets BMW's latest curved display with two displays, one for the digital instrument cluster and another for the central touchscreen. The new M5 features the brand's latest iDrive OS on the infotainment, along with connected tech. The car also comes with body-hugging sports seats, a 3-spoke steering wheel with customisable red M buttons, and a head-up display; among others.

The new BMW M5 though is heavier than the previous model, tipping the scale at around 2,445 kg. This is mainly due to the introduction of the hybrid system and the battery pack. The 2025 BMW M5 comes with the same 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, as on the XM. This engine is paired with a plug-in hybrid system, offering power figures of 717 BHP and 1000 Nm. The 14.8 kWh battery also gives the new M5 an electric-only driving range of 25 miles. BMW also claims that the new-gen M5 can sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph with the M Driver's package.

The latest-gen BMW M5 is priced at $120,675. Deliveries of the performance sedan will begin later this year.
