My experience visting the Maritme Industry Trade event

There were people selling consultancy, insurance, navigation equipment, repair services, electrical components and electrical work the list goes on.

BHPian Jeroen recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

With Sirion out of the water, I had to think of some other nautical pastimes. Luckily the Maritime Industry Trade event is on at Gorinchem!

Just around the corner from where we live! 10 minutes by bicycle.

The event caters for the more professional boaters, rather than the recreational ones. This means most of the kit on display is of a more manly size than what you would find on yachts such as Sirion.

Lots of big Engines on display

I must have counted at least a dozen or so Hydrogen Engines. Contrary to popular belief, hydrogen engines are already a well-established technology in the shipping industry. Essentially a diesel engine with some modifications.

Still plenty of traditional diesels too

The trade show has just about anything under the sun to cater for professional sailors.

Environmental and green stuff is everywhere. here is an electrical outboard, about 15HP.

A stuwa rudder, Dutch company, Dutch design. I will have you know, that Sirion has a Stuwa rudder. Admittedly a lot smaller than this one, but still.

Ropes, lots of ropes. Way too big a diameter for Sirion!!

More diesel and alternative engines

Of course, a trade event like this will have some folks selling tools. Gorgeous tools!!!

Various companies provide all kinds of turbochargers, and or maintenance and repair of said turbo chargers.

The future Chief Engineer, no doubt?

A kind of different bow thruster. You are looking at a scale model. At the bottom is a mirror, so you are looking into the mirror at the bottom of the ship, really. This whole contraption can swivel around. It sucks in water from the bottom of the ship and spews it out, via the bottom sideways. The swivelling motion allows you to control the thrust direction.
