More info on the Mahindra XUV700: brake pad issue, mileage

Petrol XUV700 customers should not expect a fuel efficiency of more than 5-6 km/l (AT).

Earlier this month, we had reported that the initial batch of the Mahindra XUV700 was likely to face brake pad issues. According to the latest information, cars that are scheduled to be delivered in the next 3-4 months or those produced till December 2021 will have this issue.

It is said that Mahindra has an excess of petrol engines ready in the plant as compared to diesel. Also, chips specific to diesel engines are in short supply, which is why petrol production is being prioritized.

Mahindra XUV700 fuel efficiency:

Speaking of petrol engines, it is said that petrol XUV700 customers should not expect more than 5-6 km/l (Automatic) and 6-7 km/l (Manual) in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Infotainment system:

The touchscreen infotainment system in the XUV700 is based on a Qualcomm chip. It is said that the test drive and media cars were equipped with older generation chips which will be replaced with the latest chips in the later batches. The newer chips are said to be faster and are expected to improve the response times of the touchscreen functions.

Other minor issues:

Customers who have purchased the lower variants equipped with manual seat adjustment could face excessive play in the mechanism when reclining the seat. This should be resolved in later batches.

The initial batch of XUV700s is also said to be affected by a laggy reversing camera feed, which should also be rectified in newer cars.

Production capacity:

At present, Mahindra is said to be producing 5,000 units per month. The production capacity is likely to be ramped up to around 9,000 units by the second week of January 2022.
