Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard launched at Rs. 10.50 crore

Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard in India at a price of Rs. 10.50 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard is the world’s first civilian vehicle to be certified with the highest ballistic protection level - VR 10. To obtain this certification, the car's bodywork and windows must be able to withstand hardened steel core bullets fired from an assault rifle.

The under-body of the car is armoured as well and is claimed to protect its occupants from explosions. The sides of the car can also withstand explosions and the car has an ERV (Explosive Resistant Vehicles) 2010 blast protection rating as well.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard uses a reinforced body shell, special steel and materials in the base structure and bodywork, as well as windows coated with polycarbonate to prevent splintering. The underbody armouring entirely covers the undercarriage below the occupant compartment.

On the inside, the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard gets rear seats that are positioned further back. The car also gets optional assistance systems such as Night View Assist Plus, the LED Intelligent Light System and a 360-degree camera.

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is offering a number of features as optional extras. These include opaque roller blinds all-round in the rear, heated windscreen and side windows, a panic alarm system, a fire extinguisher system with automatic activation, an emergency fresh air system that protects occupants from the ingress of smoke or irritant gases, hydraulic power for the side windows and LED reading lamps in the rear.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard is powered by a 5,980 cc, V12 petrol engine that develops 523 BHP @ 4,900-5,300 rpm and 830 Nm of torque @ 1,900-4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. The car has a claimed 0-100 kph time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 190 kph.

The vehicle can be serviced and repaired at all Mercedes-Benz service outlets.
