Maruti Suzuki YBA spotted testing on public roads

Maruti Suzuki has started testing the upcoming YBA compact SUV on public roads.

The YBA bears resemblance to the Suzuki iV-4 concept that was displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. The car is likely to be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo as the Maruti iv4.
It has a length of less than 4 metres and will be a rival for the Ford EcoSport.

Maruti has been developing a 1.5-litre diesel engine for the car. However, the company is likely to postpone the engine's launch. This engine is not expected to be ready before 2018 and could be used to power the SUV at a later date. At launch, the YBA is expected to be launched with the same 1.3-litre, Fiat-sourced diesel engine that is used in other Maruti vehicles. The car is also likely to get the company's K12 (1.2-litre) and K14 (1.4-litre) petrol engines.

Maruti is expected to equip the YBA with features on the lines of the Ciaz sedan and the upcoming YRA premium hatchback.

There have been reports suggesting that the YBA will be called the Vitara Brezza when it is launched.
