Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS brochure leaked ahead of launch

Maruti Suzuki will launch the Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) in India tomorrow (September 1, 2015). Dealers have already started accepting bookings for the car.

A copy of the brochure of the Ciaz SHVS has surfaced on the internet. The document reveals that the Ciaz SHVS is powered by the same 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, 89 BHP diesel engine from the regular Ciaz diesel. The car is also equipped with Suzuki's SHVS technology, which features an idling start / stop system and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The standard diesel version of the car will be discontinued.

The SHVS technology has an idle stop start feature, which switches off the engine when the car is idling and switches it on when the clutch is depressed. The brake energy regeneration function charges the battery during braking. The power is stored in the battery and the system combines it with the power from the engine to help the vehicle during acceleration. The car will also get a gear shift indicator.

The Ciaz SHVS will come in VDi, VDi(O), VD+, ZD and ZD+ trim levels. The brochure also reveals that the Ciaz SHVS VDi will have a kerb weight of 1115 kg, 10 kg more than the standard diesel VDi.
