Maruti Ertiga facelift to get SHVS technology and AT

Earlier this month, we had reported that Maruti Suzuki will use the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle from Suzuki) technology in the Ertiga facelift. Now, a document (probably a product brochure) with some information about the car has been leaked. This document confirms the presence of the technology in the car.

The Etriga uses the same 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, 89 BHP diesel engine and 5-speed manual gearbox that is used in the Ciaz SHVS, which was launched at the start of this month. The SHVS technology features an idling start / stop system, The SHVS technology has an idle stop start feature, which switches off the engine when the car is idling and switches it on when the clutch is depressed. The system also has a brake energy regeneration function charges the battery during braking. The power is stored in the battery and the system combines it with the power from the engine to help the vehicle during acceleration. This system is expected to make the Ertiga more fuel-efficient than it is.

The Ertiga will also continue to use the 1.4-litre petrol engine from the current model. The document reveals that the VXi variant of the car will be equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission, which is possible adopted from the Ciaz petrol.

Media reports suggest that the Ertiga facelift will be launched on October 10.
