Mahindra TUV300 70,000 km service: Brake discs and pads changed

Each disc costs around Rs 2000/- and the brake pads around Rs 2600/-.

BHPian AutoIndian recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Today, I got the 70K service done for my car. There were no major complaints. only some minor things like:

  • LHS mirror tight fitment
  • LHS fog lamp replacement
  • RHS fog lamp focus lowering
  • Engine oil replace
  • Engine Oil Filter replaces
  • Coolant-level top-up
  • Differential Oil replacement
  • Tyre Rotation "X" type
  • Brake Fluid top-up
  • Power Steering fluid top-up
  • AC Mesh Filter - Clean

Left the car at the service center around 10:00 am. Around 4:30 pm, I received a call from my SA that the front brake rotor discs had completely worn out. Normally new disc thickness is 12mm and now both are at a bare minimum of 5mm. Also, there are scoring marks. They cannot even skim the disc on the lathe due to the very low thickness left. Sharing the pics below. Each disc costs around Rs 2000/- and the brake pads around Rs 2600/-. Yes, they advised me to replace the brake pads as well. I had put a new set of brake pads during the 50K service. So, the brake pads shouldn't have worn out that much, but they insisted on putting a new set of brake pads on new discs. I gave them the go-ahead to replace the brake discs and brake pads.

Due to the brake rotor disc and brake pads replacement the service cost bumped up to 15K, otherwise it would have been exactly half of that at Rs 7505/-. After the service, the car feels smooth, the brakes have got a good bite, and the fog lamps are working fine with good beam focus. Overall, quite satisfied with the service.
