Mahindra BE 6: My take on passenger comfort after 2,600km ownership

I have had multiple 300 km trips in my Mahindra BE6 till now and have driven a total of 2,600km

BHPian PMSreenivas recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

I have had multiple 300 km trips till now and have driven a total of 2,600km. Had my parents and relatives sit in the back for those trips. Their heights were between 5'6" to 5'10".
None of them complained about anything so far. I'm 5'9" and my wife is 5'8" and we sat in the front.

Mahindra BE 6: Passenger comfort

1. As told by multiple people, this car is mainly intended for enthusiasts and not for family. Me and my wife are the only ones who will be using it for majority and that's the reason we went for it. Somehow we ended up having multiple trips in recent days and since it's the new car, complete family wanted to travel in this and actually everyone was happy with the journey. It's a sports car where 4 adults can travel very comfortably. Comfort levels for 5 people depends upon the build of people (will be applicable for other cars as well). If multiple people of the family are at the heights of 6 and above, I don't think this is a car for you guys and very few cars can accomodate people at those heights comfortably.

2. Ingress and Egress - How many times does a person ingress and egress in a trip? The entry points are a little low but we have enough head room inside. You get in and sit for long durations, you don't keep getting in and out 10s of times in a single trip. Anyways, it's still a compromise to be made since the design of the car is as such with multiple reasons causing this phenomenon. It was built to be aerodynamically efficient, should be safe for side impacts, and for the aesthetics to be sporty.

BE 6 vs XEV 9e: They serve different purposes

It's fine if you feel like the back seats aren't to your liking. It's not a car intended for the back seats to be a luxuriously comfortable seating. XEV 9E is specifically for that.
Mahindra released 2 cars for catering two different set of audience at a time - Enthusiasts and Family oriented. That's the reason for that small gap between prices of the two cars. People with different choices can chose what they want. If BE6 was supposed to be a car with very comfortable, luxurious seating for all passengers and be family oriented how many will buy XEV 9E? Why would Mahindra released two cars together that would conflict each other's purpose?

Even then, the back seats aren't as bad as what other people seem to make it out to be. I'm speaking it with experience and others who own it have similar opinions.
The back seats are good enough for 2 adults even for long trips. My parents aged 56 and 63 found the seats very comfortable in 300km long trips.
It's easily good enough for 4 adults. If your family is built on taller side, may be XEV 9E is the car for you and do try it out.
