Lexus supercar with 600 BHP V8 engine in the works

The Lexus supercar will take on the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GT.

According to media reports, Lexus is said to be working on a new GR GT3 race car. The upcoming car's design is said to be heavily inspired by the brand's 2022 GR GT3 Concept and is expected to replace the brand's current RC F GT3 race car.

What this means for enthusiasts is that, as part of the homologation rules, Lexus must also introduce a road-going version of the same car. The road-legal version will carry forward the same basic design and powertrain as the race car. The road-going version of the race car has been spotted undergoing testing already. Reports state that it will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, with the road-legal version getting some form of hybrid assistance.

The new Lexus supercar is expected to produce around 600 BHP, which should help it take on its main rivals, the Aston Martin Vantage and the Mercedes-AMG GT.

Reports also suggest that the race car will debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona, scheduled for January 2026. Its road-going version will also debut the same year but at a slightly later stage.
