Kia Sonet could be launched in September - October 2020

We had earlier reported that Kia was planning to launch the Sonet sub-4 meter SUV sometime around the festive season. According to a media interview, the carmaker will be launching the car between September and October 2020 as scheduled.

According to Manohar Bhat, Vice President & Head of Sales & Marketing, Kia Motors India, the Sonet launch is on track and there are no plans to postpone it because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Kia Sonet is expected to share its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue. It could be offered with 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options, with either a manual or automated manual transmission (AMT). Kia calls their AMT unit as the Intelligent Manual transmission which claims to offer conventional gear changing experience without the clutch pedal being present.

Kia plans to launch a new model every 6 months. Their latest vehicle, the Kia Carnival, was launched back in February.
