According to a media report, Jeep's new 7-seater SUV may not be based on the Compass.
The report states that the SUV is likely to get different suspension and steering gear. It could be offered with a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine that could be mated to either a 6-speed Aisin gearbox or a ZF 9-speed automatic.
The new 7-seater SUV could also get a 2.0-litre diesel engine option. It is the same engine that is available in the Compass.
Jeep's new 7-seater SUV is touted to compete with the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in the Indian market. It is rumoured to be launched in 2020 or 2021.
