Isuzu targets annual production of 1.2 lakh units by 2016

Isuzu Motors India is looking to increase its production levels. According to Deputy Managing Director Shigeru Wakabayashi, the Japanese auto maker is targeting a production level of 1.2 lakh units per annum by 2016. Isuzu plans a total investment of Rs 3000 crore which will supposedly generate 2000-3000 jobs as well.

The investment to expand production is largely aimed at improving localization. Isuzu is looking to localize 100% of its production through its plant in Sri City. Isuzu currently has dealerships in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi & Uttar Pradesh along with their latest dealer in Rajasthan. The brand is looking to open a total of 60 outlets in India by 2015-16. Isuzu currently offers the MU-7 SUV along with different variations of the D-Max pick-up.
