Hyundai releases teaser image of sixth-generation Elantra

With the official unveil of the sixth-generation Elantra sedan just around the corner, Hyundai has released a teaser image of the car.

The image suggests that the new Elantra's styling is radically different compared to the current model. It gets a large, hexagonal grille with horizontal slats, sweptback, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, chrome inserts in the fog lamp housings and alloy wheels.

There are strong creases on the bonnet, and the sides of the car. The B-pillar is blackened and the window line rises towards the rear. The roofline slopes downwards like a coupe and the boot it short.

The 2016 Elantra is expected to be powered by a new 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which puts out 174 bhp. The engine is likely to be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission.
