Honda releases sketches of BR-V compact SUV

Honda has released sketches of the BR-V, its upcoming compact SUV. The prototype of the car will be unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2015, which is scheduled for 20 - 30 August 2015, in Tangerang, Indonesia.

BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle. The vehicle is developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd. (HRAP) in Thailand for the Asian market. It is likely to be based on the Brio hatchback and could come to India in the coming years.

It will have high ground clearance, alloy wheels and roof rails. Other features seen in the sketches include front and rear skid plates, projector headlights, a chrome grille, a large air dam, round fog lamps, black body cladding and wheel arches and chrome number plate garnish. The vehicle looks a lot more muscular than the Brio, Amaze or Mobilio.

On the inside, it will have seven seats in a 3-row configuration.

Powering the BR-V will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine which will be available with a choice of two transmissions. We expect the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Amaze, City and Mobilio to be used as well.
