Funny infotainment issue on my Scorpio-N & how it solved itself

A tight slap and a mental threat to replace it by a used Compass/Fortuner fixed things.

BHPian vredesbyrd recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Funny issue here. The infotainment screen lost all functionality today morning. It was working normally till 3:30am when I stopped driving.

  1. Screen is stuck with the reverse camera display (the camera and guidelines are working fine)
  2. Audio is working as I am able to take calls and listen to music (carplay)
  3. Restarting half a dozen times did not help
  4. Service centre guy has no idea about what this could be and can't say anything till I bring the vehicle to them (fair point)

Has anybody else faced this exact issue?

Is there a way of performing a hard reset on the system like holding power button for 10 seconds in VAG cars?

Here's what BHPian ashivas89 had to say on the matter:

Why don't you try pulling the relevant fuse and plugging it back in? Had worked for me on a Hyundai once.

Here's what BHPian AROO7 had to say on the matter:

You can look at removing the negative terminal of the battery of the car and wait for 5-6 minutes and re-connect it. This should do the trick.

If the issue still persists get it to the service center and get the software updated, that's where majority of these screen issues go away. But if you are unlucky then it would warrant a hardware replacement (silverbox).

BHPian vredesbyrd had the following update to share on the issue:

Thank you so much for the advice. Had just gone downstairs to try the fuse and battery methods but to my utter surprise (or rather, the complete lack of it), the issue resolved itself.

I guess it is much like a computer. A tight slap and a mental threat to replaced it by a used Compass/Fortuner fixed things.
