Skoda Superb throws up its 1st error in 2.5 years; Service experience

Planning to get my battery also replaced and have asked them for a goodwill discount.

BHPian rphukan recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

After 2.5 years of absolutely hassle-free ownership, the Superb started throwing up errors upon starting. The errors were related to the ABS/cornering lights/manoeuvre braking/child lock, etc.

Initially, they would come up on starting the vehicle and then disappear after a couple of minutes, but over time, they refused to go away, and the steering also became hard to use, kind of like the power steering not working.

Checked my battery using a multimeter, since it was close to 3 years old, and saw that the voltage when switched off was around 12.10 volts. Thinking it might be a problem with the battery voltage, used my Bosch C3 trickle charger to charge it up overnight, but the issue persisted.

The next possible point of failure was the ABS sensor, took the car to Apunar Skoda here in Guwahati, where after diagnosis, they confirmed the failure of the front right ABS sensor. The part was not in stock and they requested for a week's time to arrange for it.

Followed up after 10 days, went to the dealership, got the sensor replaced, and everything is back to normal again!

Total cost: Rs 0, as it was covered under warranty.

I also wanted to replace the battery as well, as I know it will eventually fail, but since it carries only a 2-year warranty, I will have to pay from my own pocket.

They have quoted approximately 17000 for it. Considering the fact that I have referred 20+ customers to them for new vehicle sales, have asked them for a goodwill discount on it.

The service manager has committed that he would send it to Skoda for approval, am currently awaiting their revert!

Overall, a pleasant experience with Skoda after-sales service so far! (fingers crossed)
