Ford India launches 2014 Classic at Rs. 4.99 lakh

In line with our previous report, Ford India has re-launched the Classic sedan. The car is now priced between Rs. 4.99 lakh and Rs. 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The move will enable the company to reposition the Classic to take on the Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire and Hyundai’s upcoming i10 Grand-based sedan.

The Classic is available with two engine options - a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, Duratec petrol unit that produces 101 ps and 146 Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, Duratorq diesel motor that develops 69 ps and 160 Nm of torque. Both engines come with a 5-speed, manual gearbox.

The Classic is equipped with features like Bluetooth audio with speed-sensitive volume control, front fog lamps, rear defogger, turn indicators on ORVMs, speed-sensitive locking, ABS, EBD and dual front airbags.

In the recent past, Ford has not been doing well with respect to sales. With the exception of the EcoSport, all of its models have been struggling to attract buyers. With the price cut, the company is attempting to turn things around.
