Tata launches T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship in India

Tata Motors has launched of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship in India, which will take place on the 23rd March, 2014 at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida.

The series, which is organised by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) in association with the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), will feature twelve purpose-built Tata Prima 4038.S trucks with engines that develop 370 bhp@2100 rpm and can achieve a maximum speed of 110 kph. Tata Motors claims to have made 22 key modifications to the Prima for it to confirm to British Truck Racing Association (BRTA) Rules. These include changes to the fuel tank, brake cooling system, propeller shaft guards, racing seats and safety belts, exhaust and steering wheel.

These trucks will be divided between six teams and will be driven by experienced, international drivers sourced from the British Truck Racing Championship and European Truck Racing Championship. There will be two races, a qualifier and the main race, which will feature a rolling start.

The T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship is the first of its kind in India.
