Fiat Linea 10 year major service report: Now good for another 5 years

Did a quick engine flush and replaced with Mobile 1 engine oil which has improved throttle response and the low end torque off idle.

BHPian keroo1099 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

My Linea came back yesterday from its 10 year major service at a FNG (friend) I've been using for close to 30 years.

Because of how little it's been used over the last 5 yrs these are the observations:

  1. All belts including timing were fine on inspection so not replaced. The original belts were replaced at 5 years
  2. All hoses are fine so not replaced and are original
  3. To minimise rat bite wrapped all exposed cables with PVC sleeves
  4. Brake pads will last me another 5k which means on an average I'm getting around 30k km per set
  5. Had a small exhaust leak at the joint between pipe and first canister which was welded and painted over
  6. Was petrified of finding rust when we examined the underbody but no sign of it so far which is a real blessing considering what some friends are finding on their Abarth's
  7. Suspension bushes are fine at 56k km.
  8. Changed the GB oil (it's an imported shell) and added an Omega additive. The gearshift quality has improved with zero slack and just feels a lot more positive
  9. Did a quick engine flush and replaced with Mobile 1 engine oil which has improved throttle response and the low end torque off idle. I had Addinol fully synthetic before which also was very smooth but looked very dark when drained after about 5k of running.
  10. Had an extra set of plugs so decided to change them which along with the new oil has made the engine a lot quieter.

Hopefully the car should last another 5 yrs without too many issues
