Bajaj Freedom CNG motorcycle launched at Rs 95,000

The Freedom 125 CNG has a range of 330 km and can cover 102 km on a single kg of CNG.

Bajaj Auto has launched the Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle. The bike is available in three variants – Drum, Drum LED, and Disc LED, with prices starting at Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is fitted with a 2 kg CNG cylinder, tucked neatly underneath the seat, and a 2-litre petrol tank. According to Bajaj, this gives the Freedom 125 a range of up to 330 km.

Powering the bike is a 125cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 9.4 BHP and 9.7 Nm. Bajaj claims that the bike can cover 102 km on a single kg of CNG, resulting in a 50% reduction in daily running costs, 26.7% lower CO2 emissions, and fuel savings of up to Rs 75,000 over 5 years, compared to a petrol-powered 125cc bike.

The Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle looks like any other commuter bike on the road. It features a round LED headlamp, an LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, and a single-piece seat set at a height of 825 mm.

Bajaj has also conducted several safety tests on the Freedom 125. The bike was subjected to a total of 11 tests, including impact tests and truck-runover test to check the integrity of the CNG tank.

The Freedom 125 is available in five colours -Ebony Black, Caribbean Blue, Cyber White, Racing Red and Pewter Grey. Deliveries will begin in Maharashtra and Gujarat, followed by other parts of India.
