Dates for 2017 Maruti Suzuki Autoprix announced

The Maruti Suzuki Autoprix Season 1 will be held in eight cities starting from September 8, 2017. The event is open to amateur motorsports enthusiasts. The winner will be given the title of "National Maruti Suzuki Autoprix Champion".

Participants will have to tackle specially built, undulating tracks with tight and twisty turns. There will be variations in the surfaces causing grip levels to vary. The Autoprix will have seven rounds between September 8, 2017 and January 7, 2018. The host cities have been divided into four zones - North, South, East and West. These include Bangalore, Pune, Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Indore, Gurgaon and Guwahati. The Buddh International Circuit at Greater Noida will host the finale from January 27 to 29, 2019.

Participants can enter the event with their own cars. Cars participating in the championship will be split into two groups - Group Modified and Group Open. These will be further classified into six classes depending on engine displacement and drivetrain. Participants taking part in the city rounds will be awarded points based on their final ranking in each class. The top scorers from each zone and class will qualify for the finals.

The overall winner will be awarded an all-new Maruti Swift along with a cash prize. The winners of the city rounds will get cash prizes as well.
