Booked Ather Rizta but came out disappointed after a test ride

Due to these reasons I feel the base variant is enough for my requirements, but the deliveries for the mid and low variant is planned for October or November.

BHPian TheRandomGuy recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I test drove the Ather Rizta yesterday(28 Jul) in Bangalore. I made a booking 2 days after the announcement and was very eager for its release and TD.

I came out semi disappointed after the test drive and fully disappointed after a talk with the sales advisor.

Let me explain.

In my mind, the Rizta is very overpriced, and Ather is trying to keep it in the same league as 450 series when its really not and is gimped on many things.

There is no touchscreen even on the highest variant, and the joystick control felt really slow to operate with each action taking 3-5 seconds to update on the screen. Not sure if this was just the vehicle I used or all of them.

There is a single mode(zip), as the smart eco is pretty much useless to drive, and zip is also a toned down version for "family" reasons.

Due to these reasons I feel the base variant is enough for my requirements, but the deliveries for the mid and low variant is planned for October or November. After the EMPS subsidy ends on September we don't know what kind of EV subsidy the govt will provide for 2W, if any, so the vehicle might get even costlier and it just doesn't make any sense.

I am honestly not feeling it with Rizta, I am still holding on just because its Ather and their strong EV background.

On a sidenote I also checked out the River Indie which is near Ather's showroom and came out really impressed. Feels like a solid offering from a new company, and this is the only reason I am holding back on River, unsure of their long term reliability and stability for the company and the vehicle.

Leaning towards River for now. Time will tell.

Peace.
