BMW R 1300 GS teased ahead of its India launch

The BMW R 1300 GS competes with the Honda Africa Twin, Triumph Tiger 1200 and the Ducati Multistrada V4.

BMW Motorrad is gearing up to launch a new adventure bike in India. The latest teaser released by the company on social media leaves nothing to the imagination. It is, of course, the R 1300 GS.

The BMW R 1300 GS made its global debut in September last year. The bike is based on a new chassis that is said to be stiffer than before. The bike features a new Matrix LED headlamp with X-shaped LED DRLs, an adjustable windscreen, a digital instrument console and knuckle guards with integrated LED turn indicators.

Powering the R 1300 GS is a 1,300cc twin-cylinder boxer engine that produces 143.5 BHP @ 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The engine features BMW's ShiftCam tech and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. There are four riding modes: Rain, Road, Eco, and Enduro and three optional modes: Dynamic, Dynamic Pro and Enduro Pro.

The R 1300 GS is equipped with a new EVO Telelever front suspension and a para-lever setup at the rear. It comes with features like Dynamic Suspension Adjustment that can adjust the damping and preload depending on the road conditions and riding style. The bike also gets an adaptive seat height function that adjusts the saddle height automatically when riding slowly or when stopped.
