Bajaj starts production of Pulsar RS200

The fully-faired Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is expected to be launched later this month. In anticipation of high demand, Bajaj wants to build up an inventory of 25,000-30,000 units of the motorcycle before the launch. The production of the bike has begun at the company's Chakan plant.

The Pulsar RS200 shares its platform with the Pulsar 200 NS. It will stand 2,060 mm long, 750 mm wide and 1,160 mm tall with a ground clearance of 165mm. The weight of the bike is pegged at 151 kg and its fuel tank will have a capacity of 12 litres. The motorcycle has a full fairing with twin projector headlamps, daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, an underbelly exhaust and an analogue-digital instrument cluster.

The Pulsar RS200 will be powered by the same engine as the 200 NS - a 199.5 cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, single cylinder that puts out 23.2 bhp @ 9500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque @ 8000 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Stopping power will be provided by disc brakes on the front and rear wheels and an ABS unit might be provided as well. The bike will sport a telescopic fork suspension at the front and monoshock at the rear.

Bajaj is planning to position the Pulsar RS200 in the S2 sub-category of motorcycles, which also includes the Yamaha TZF-R15. According to estimates, the bike is likely to be priced at Rs. 1.15 lakh.
