770 HP Lamborghini Centenario revealed

Lamborghini has unwrapped the most powerful car it has ever made in the form of the limited edition Centenario. Only 40 units of the Centenario will be made and the total production will include 20 coupes and 20 roadsters, all of which have already been sold. The car has been launched to commemorate founder Ferrucio Lamborghini's 100th birthday and each unit comes at a starting price of just 1.75 million euros (approximately Rs. 12.81 crore).

Showcased at the Geneva Motor Show with a full carbon fibre finish, clients can specify their Centenario to include exposed carbon fibre or any colour and finish from Lamborghini's Ad Personam personalisation programme.

The Centenario is at its essence an Aventador, but sports better output figures, a few unique features and extensive bodywork changes to not only make it look more aggressive, but make it lighter (dry weight is 55 kg less than the standard Aventador LP 700-4) and more aerodynamic as well.

Powering the car is a familiar 6,498cc, naturally-aspirated V12 engine that still makes 690 Nm of torque @ 5,500 rpm like the rest of the Aventador range, but power goes up to 759 BHP @ 8,500 rpm (vs the Aventador's 691 BHP and Aventador SV's 740 BHP).

0-100 km/h comes up in a claimed 2.8 seconds, 0-300 km/h comes up in a claimed 23.5 seconds, while the top speed is rated at over 350 km/h. The carbon ceramic discs help the Centenario shed speed from 100 km/h to a dead stop in 30 metres.

An extendable rear wing is integrated in the body when stationary or at low speeds and according to the speed or driving mode chosen, the wing extends to 150 mm and rotates up to 15 degrees for optimal aerodynamic efficiency.

The Centenario gets a new Lamborghini rear-wheel steering system. At low speeds the rear tires turn in the opposite direction of the steering angle while at high speeds the rear tires turn in the same direction of the steering angle.

Sports seats in carbon fibre are available as standard. They include new stitching along the length of the dashboard, steering wheel, sunvisors, rocker covers, and the new inner door panels made of carbon fibre and Alcantara. A 10.1-inch touchscreen display supports satellite navigation, internet connectivity and Apple CarPlay. There's also space for two helmets in the front trunk.
