2018 Suzuki Jimny leaked online

First images of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny have been leaked online. It looks like the 4th generation Jimny borrows styling cues from some legendary SUVs from the past and present. The design is clearly inspired by the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen and the Land Rover Defender to a certain extent.

As per the leaked images, the Jimny will have boxy proportions with short overhangs. Like its predecessor, the new model will be offered in a three-door body style. The car featured here could be of a lower trim, given the fact that it is on steel rims and has basic ORVMs and door handles in black. Higher variants might get alloy wheels and dual-tone exterior colour options. The front end gets a 5-slat grille with large, round headlights and round indicators while the bumper houses a pair of fog lamps. From the rear, the Jimny looks a lot like the G-Wagen, especially with the centrally-mounted spare wheel and tail lights integrated into the rear bumper.

Inside, the Jimny gets a three-spoke steering wheel, a twin-dial instrument cluster and a central infotainment screen. Overall, the interior has been given a rugged look to match the vehicle's character.

The 2018 Jimny is rumoured to get a 1.0-liter, turbocharged petrol engine. The car featured in the image is sporting an automatic transmission however a manual version might also be on cards. It has been reported in the past that the next-gen Jimny would use the same lightweight platform that underpins the Baleno. Also, Suzuki might manufacture the Jimny in India and could introduce a five-door version in the local market.
