2017 Nissan GT-R: pre-bookings open in India

Nissan India has officially opened pre-bookings of its upcoming sports car - the Nissan GT-R. The Japanese automaker had earlier released a couple of teaser videos announcing the GT-R's nearing arrival in India. The flagship sports car model is expected to be launched in the country by the end of 2016.

Interested customers can now pre-book the GT-R by paying a token amount of Rs. 25 lakh. The company has also established a telephonic helpline (1-800-209-3456) for any issues about the GT-R.

The 2017 GT-R was revealed at this year's New York International Auto Show in March. Prior to that, Nissan had showcased the outgoing model at the 2016 Auto Expo, and had officially announced that the new model will be launched in India this year itself. The upcoming GT-R is being referred to as the biggest change that the GT-R has ever had, ever since its original introduction in 2007.

The new GT-R continues to be powered by the 3.8-litre, twin-turbo, V6 engine, which is the same unit found in the earlier model. But Nissan engineers have tweaked the power mill to give a slight boost in the power and torque figures, which are now rated at 562 BHP @ 6,800 rpm and 637 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, the GT-R is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.

In India, the Nissan GT-R will be available in the Euro-spec Premium Edition. It will be offered in seven colour options: Katsura Orange, Vibrant Red, Pearl Black, Pearl White, Racing Blue, Gun Metallic and Ultimate Silver. Each colour will get matching coloured leather trims on the inside.
