2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 launched in India at Rs. 5.69 lakh

The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated model gets some styling changes and is also lighter than the model it replaces.

The 2017 Ninja 650 largely borrows its styling cues from the ZX-10R. It was globally unveiled at the 2016 INTERMOT show. The fairing and fuel tank get prominent contours while the tail section has been shortened. The aluminium swing-arm is a new unit, while the wheels have also been redesigned. The handlebars and seat height has been lowered so as to lower the centre of gravity of the bike. The rear end is characterized by X-pattern LED taillights. The bike also gets a new black and neon green colour scheme.

Powering the 2017 Ninja 650 is a BS-IV compliant 649 cc, parallel-twin engine that churns out 69 BHP, which is 2 BHP less than the power output of the model it replaces. However, Kawasaki claims that since the 2017 Ninja 650 is around 19 kg lighter than its predecessor, the drop in power output won't translate to any visible sluggishness in the bike's rideability. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox that also comes with a slipper clutch. ABS is now standard with the 2017 Ninja 650.
