The 2016 Audi A4 has been launched in India at prices starting from Rs. 38.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in just two variants: Premium Plus and Technology. The top-end Technology variant costs Rs. 41.20 lakh. The new, fifth-generation A4 is currently offered with only a petrol engine, while a diesel variant will likely be introduced in the near future.

The new A4 is built on Volkswagen Group's MLB 2 platform. It measures 4,726 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width and 1,427 mm in height, while the wheelbase is scaled at 2,820 mm. This makes it 25 mm longer and 16 mm wider than the model it replaces. The wheelbase too has been given an increment of 12 mm.

Powering the 2016 A4 is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 148 BHP and a peak torque of 250 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. The ARAI certified fuel economy rating is 17.84 km/l for the A4 30 TFSI.

From the design perspective, the 2016 A4 gets a single frame hexagonal front grille that is being adopted in all new Audi cars. The headlights feature redesigned DRL units. The side profile is characterized by 5 spoke 17-inch alloys. At the rear, the new A4 gets a boot lid integrated spoiler, and new taillights that have sweeping type LED indicators.

Features on offer with the top-spec A4 include Audi's Virtual cockpit, Audi MMI system with 7-inch display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a wireless charging pad for Qi-enabled smartphones, a key memory function, and three-zone climate control. A 755 watt Bang & Olufsen 3D audio system with 19 speakers takes care of the entertainment needs.
