Okinawa Lite e-scooter launched at Rs. 59,990

Okinawa Scooters has launched the new Lite e-scooter in India. It is priced at Rs. 59,990 (ex-showroom), which includes the FAME-II subsidy.

The Okinawa Lite comes with an LED headlight mounted on the front apron. It has a U-shaped LED daytime running light and square indicators. The scooter has a digital instrument cluster, flat seat with silver grab rail and an LED tail light.

The Okinawa Lite is powered by a 250 watt electric motor and a 1.25 kWh detachable lithium-ion battery. The battery is claimed to have a maximum range of 50-60 km on a single charge and takes 4-5 hours to recharge to its full capacity. It has a disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear.

The Lite e-scooter has regenerative braking and features such as One Push start button, Auto Handle lock function, Auto Motor lock function, battery lock function, mobile charging and alloy wheels.

Okinawa offers a 3 year warranty on the battery and electric motor.

Bajaj Chetak e-scooter 'Silent Factory' video

Bajaj has shared a video that reveals the production line of the new Chetak electric scooter.

The video titled, "The Chetak Silent Factory" shows the different stages of assembly. But, it mainly focuses on the low noise levels in the factory.

The Chetak e-scooter was unveiled earlier this month. It features an LED headlamp with an LED daytime running light and vertical turn-indicators mounted on the front apron. It has metal body panels and 12-inch alloy wheels.

Bajaj has not revealed the e-scooter's full technical specifications yet. However, we do know that the Chetak will come with an IP67 rated lithium-ion battery. It has two riding modes - Eco and Sport and comes with a regenerative braking system.

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is expected to be launched sometime next year and will be sold through KTM dealerships initially.

According to a media report, the Chetak electric scooter will be sold through KTM dealerships. It is expected to go on sale sometime next year.

Bajaj is likely to position the Chetak as a premium offering. The company expects to gain around 6% market share in its segment.

Earlier this week, Bajaj Auto unveiled its first electric scooter called the Chetak. We are told that it could be priced at around Rs. 1.1 lakh.

The Chetak electric scooter is based on a rigid frame and has sheet metal body panels. It has an oval LED headlamp with integrated daytime running lights, vertical indicators and tail lights. The scooter also gets a circular digital instrument cluster.

The Chetak e-scooter uses an IP67 rated battery pack. It has two riding modes - Eco and Sport and comes with an Intelligent Battery Management System and regenerative braking. The battery can be recharged using a standard household power outlet.

Bajaj Urbanite e-scooter to be launched in phases

According to a media report, the Bajaj Auto's new electric scooter under the Urbanite brand is likely to be launched in a phased manner.

The new electric scooter that is rumoured to be called Chetak Chic Electric is expected to be launched on October 16, 2019. The report suggests that the e-scooter is likely to be launched in Pune and Bangalore in the first phase. It is expected to be launched in other cities in the coming months.

The report states that the Bajaj chose Pune because it is where the company is based and therefore, it would be easier to gauge the market response and fix any issues quickly. Bangalore was chosen as it already has an extensive charging infrastructure in place and is home to Ather Energy - the company that builds the Ather 450 electric scooter, which is expected to rival the Chetak Chic Electric.

According to media reports, Bajaj might launch the Urbanite brand on October 16, 2019. The first product under this new brand is expected to be an electric scooter.

Earlier this year, test mules of the Bajaj Urbanite scooter were spotted in Pune. The spy images suggest that it could get twin slanting tail lamps and a grab handle, alloy wheels and single-sided front suspension.

The Urbanite is expected to feature an all-electric powertrain, details of which are still unknown. It is expected to compete with the Ather 450 in the Indian market.

Okinawa PraisePro electric scooter launched at Rs. 71,990

Earlier this year, Okinawa Scooters had launched its all-electric i-Praise scooter. Now, the company has launched the PraisePro at a price of Rs. 71,990 (ex-showroom).

Visually similar to the i-Praise, the Okinawa PraisePro measures 1,970 mm in length, 745 mm in width and 1,165 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 175 mm and underseat storage capacity of 7 litres. It features a V-shaped LED headlamp cluster mounted on the front fairing. The e-scooter rides on telescopic fork suspension at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear and comes with aluminium alloy wheels.

Powering the i-Praise is an electric motor with a rated power of 1,000 Watt, with a peak power of 2,500 Watt. The motor is paired with a 2.0 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a claimed range of 88-110 km on a single charge. The battery pack in this scooter is detachable and can be recharged in 2-3 hours.

Other features include central locking with anti-theft alarm, keyless entry, USB charging port, find my scooter function and a motor walk assist.

Hyundai's integrated e-scooter for last-mile connectivity

Hyundai has developed a lightweight, foldable electric scooter for last mile connectivity. It could be integrated into future Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

The new e-scooter prototype is based on the concept that was showcased at CES 2017. It weighs 7.7 kg and features a tri-folding design. It comes with a digital display that shows battery status and speed. It is equipped with LED headlights and tail lights. The scooter has front suspension and rear-wheel drive.
