Dealer training for the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan is currently underway. The SUV is expected to be launched in India later this month.

The Tiguan is based on the Volkswagen Group's modular MQB platform. This lightweight architecture has helped VW engineers to cut the Tiguan's weight by around 50 kg, as compared to the earlier-gen model. The India-spec Tiguan is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TDI diesel engine that churns out 147 BHP. Transmission duties will be handled by a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The new set of images also offers a glimpse into the India-spec model's interiors. These images suggest that the Tiguan will likely come with an all-black dashboard layout. The three-spoke steering wheel houses integrated control buttons for the infotainment system, telephony functions and cruise control. The Tiguan is also expected to come with a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

The Tiguan will be brought into the country through the CKD route and will be assembled at VW's Aurangabad plant. It is expected to compete against the Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Jeep Compass.
