Volkswagen Nivus SUV unveiled

Volkswagen has unveiled the Nivus SUV. The coupe-shaped SUV will initially be launched in the South American markets.

The Nivus is based on the MQB A0 platform and is essentially a coupe version of the Taigun. The SUV measures 4,266 mm in length, 1,493 mm in height and its wheelbase is 2,566 mm.

The Nivus features a hexagonal grille flanked by LED headlights that have integrated LED daytime running lights. The front bumper has a trapezoidal air dam. At the rear, the Nivus has a raked windshield with a roof spoiler and wraparound tail lights with black trim in the centre. It also has a dual-tone rear bumper with reflector strips. The car comes with black ORVMs and roof rails.

On the inside, the new Nivus comes with a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. It has a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit as well as features such as rear view camera, electric ORVMs, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers and cruise control. Select variants get paddle shifters, drive modes and front parking sensors.

The Nivus is also offered in R-Line trim which gets 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps and glossy black paint finish. The car comes equipped with 6 airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and a driver drowsiness detection system.

The Nivus is powered by a 1.0-litre, turbocharged engine that produces 127 BHP. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
