Volkswagen imports 1.0L Polo TSI for testing purposes

Thank you to the Team-BHP fan (who chooses to remain anonymous) for sharing this information.

The Volkswagen Polo has been offered with a wide variety of powertrain options in India (both past and present). While at the upper end of the spectrum, Volkswagen is expected to go a leap beyond the GT TSI (104 BHP/175 Nm) and GT TDI (104 BHP/250 Nm) and launch the Polo GTI, the German automaker has also imported a 1.0L Polo TSI for testing purposes with the car valued at Rs. 20.44 lakh.

It is unknown if the import from Germany is being tested for the Indian market or not. In the UK, the 1.0L Polo TSI makes 109 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 2,000 rpm mated with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG autobox. There's also a 1.0L Polo TSI BlueMotion that makes 94 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque @ 1,500 rpm that comes mated only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

It remains to be seen if the car will be launched in the Indian market and what state of tune it will be offered in, if/when launched.
