USA: India-bound Honda Accord revealed

Earlier this year, we had reported that Honda is planning to bring the refreshed version of the ninth-generation Accord sedan to India in 2016. Now, the Japanese company has revealed the car in Silicon Valley, USA.

The refreshed Accord gets a chrome grille, new LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, new front bumper with LED fog lamps, LED tail lamps and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The Accord gets a new 60/40 split and folding rear seat, heated rear seats, front and rear parking sensors and new rain-sensing windshield wipers. The car can be equipped with Honda Sensing, safety and driver-assistive technologies. These includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Other features include a multi-angle rear view camera, expanded view driver's mirror, new auto high-beam headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto HondaLink Assist (e911) and HD radio.

The Accord will continue to be offered with two petrol engines - 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder i-VTEC and 3.5-litre, V-6 VTEC. For India, Honda is expected to use the 2.4-litre unit and a hybrid power plant might follow.

The Accord will compete against the Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and upcoming Volkswagen Passat.
