Updates to the 2015 Range Rover & Range Rover Sport

Land Rover has formally announced updates for the Range Rover Sport and its flagship SUV - Range Rover. These updates primarily focus on improving the vehicles off-road capability and better fuel efficiency.

A new feature called 'All-Terrain Progress Control' will be added to these SUVs which along with the 4-wheel drive system, automatically controls and regulates the speed of the vehicles as per a preset speed (between 1.8 km/h and 30 km/h). This system will be particularly useful to maintain a constant speed, while driving on off-road terrains, where momentum is crucial. It can be engaged while the vehicle is stationary or when in motion, and will work in both forward and reverse gear.

Land Rover's 3.0 litre, 6-cylinder diesel motor, which was previously twin-turbocharged, now uses a single ball-bearing turbocharger. Combined with a Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LPEGR), a two-stage oil pump and revised fuel-injector nozzle design, it continues to produce the same power output of 258 PS and 600 Nm. Fuel efficiency has improved by 8.5% in the Range Rover TDV6 and by 5.7% in the Range Rover Sport TDV6. Power output on Range Rover Sport SDV6 (3.0L Supercharged Petrol) too has gone up to 306 PS and 700 Nm (increased by 14 PS and 100 Nm respectively) due to calibration changes to the partial sequential turbocharger. It also betters fuel efficiency by 7%. A V8 supercharged petrol engine too is available with the Range Rover derivatives.

Both, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport now come with a Head-Up Display, which projects key information into the windscreen such as vehicle speed, gear position, shift indicator, cruise-control information, navigation instructions and Traffic-Sign Recognition.

The colour palette too have been updated for both the Range Rover derivatives with the inclusion of 'Yulong White'. The Sport will also be offered in 'Kaikoura Stone' too.
