Underbody protection for Maruti XL6 and Ertiga

In almost all Team-BHP reviews of Maruti cars, the lack of underbody protection is often highlighted. Fortunately, those who want added protection for their engine have an option. The Dzire with the Dualjet engine comes with a plastic engine guard, along with two small covers for the footwell, which can be retrofitted to other cars sharing the same platform.

Since, the cars are based on the same Heartect platform, the position of most of the mounting points in the engine guard match with the ones on the XL6 / Ertiga. The rear part of the cover is secured with fender liner clips while the ones on the sides are secured to the frame with screws and washers. The front part of the cover is secured by using washer nuts to hold it in place.

This cover will be a direct fit for the Swift and the Dzire. It can also be used on the Ertiga and XL6 with minor changes. It might also fit the Baleno. The plastic engine guard has a small hatch to drain the engine oil. Do note that it will only offer protection against small flying debris. Larger debris could still damage your gearbox or oil filters.
