Uber starts accepting cash payments in 3 more cities

Web-based cab aggregator Uber, has started accepting cash payments in three more cities - Bengaluru, Delhi NCR and Kolkata.

With the addition of these three cities, Uber's cash payment model is now available in 21 cities including Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Mysore, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Vadodara, and Visakhapatnam.

According to the company, while booking a cab, users have to select the cash payment option. After the ride, they have to pay the driver in cash.

Uber is trying to compete with its main rivals - Ola Cabs, which accept cash payments and controls a much larger share of the market.

In most cities Uber has been accepting payments through credit cards and other electronic payment methods. With the move to accept cash payments, the company will try to attract more customers and expand its business.

Uber has plans to roll out the cash payment model in Mumbai as well.
