TVS starts exporting BMW G 310 R from India

TVS Motor Company Ltd. has started exporting the BMW G 310 R motorcycle from India. The bike is being manufactured at the company's production facility at Hosur, in Tamil Nadu.

The G 310 R has been developed by the BMW Motorrad - TVS Motor alliance, under which, the latter is responsible for production and export of the bike to various international markets. Interestingly, while exports of the BMW G 310 R have already commenced, the India launch of this bike has been getting delayed repeatedly. It is now expected to be introduced in the market by the end of 2017.

TVS is also expected to launch the Akula 300 in India sometime this year. The Akula is the TVS branded sibling of the G 310 R. It will use the same platform and engine as that of the BMW bike. However, while the G 310 R is a naked street fighter, the Akula will be a fully-faired entry-level sports bike. The Indian automaker has also announced an investment of Rs. 350 crore for the expansion of production capacity and new product launches for 2017-18.
