Triumph Scrambler 400X 1st service and front sprocket change

Scrambler has 14T front and feels short geared.

Done with the first service

I wanted to finish off the running-in and its related restrictions, so I used the long weekend to ride the bike around to put some miles on the Odometer.

There is not much change after the first service. The bike feels a bit smoother but that's common for any service. I wanted to get two things done. Change the front brake pads to the ones from speed 400 and also change the front sprocket to the ones from speed 400, which comes with a 15T front sprocket. Scrambler has a 14T front and feels short-geared. Many have changed it internationally to 15T on the scrambler to make the gearing taller and the bike a bit calmer.

The service folks were able to change the brake pads to speed, but they did not have the 15T front sprocket in stock. I have a feeling they have the chain and sprocket set but did not want to just give the front sprocket.

Bajaj being Bajaj, it seems the front sprocket on the Duke 390, Dominar, and speed 400 are all the same and fit each other. So hopefully I will be able to find one from the sibling and attempt to change the sprocket myself. It seems like a simple affair based on videos on YouTube.

Coming to the sintered brake pads, there is a very good amount of difference, and braking now feels much more in control. I have kept the old pads as they are almost new and may come in handy in the future.

The service was done at Khivraj Triumph, Electronic City, Bangalore, and the experience was nothing to write home about. Seems like most of the mechanics and technicians are new and need to gain experience on many counts. For example, when I mentioned that the right side footpeg had much more vibrations compared to the left side, they pointed out the reason for the rubber cushions which I had removed from the footpegs. Rubber cushions were not there on both the pegs. Also, the LED indicators are fogging up and trapping moisture on a new bike which they just shrugged off.
