Toyota's first electric SUV for India coming in 2025

The Toyota Urban SUV concept is based on the 27PL skateboard platform just as the Maruti eVX.

Last year, Toyota showcased the Urban SUV concept, an electric SUV based on the Suzuki eVX. It will be the brand’s first pure-electric offering for India and if the latest reports are to be believed, could be launched in the second half of 2025.

According to media reports, Toyota’s first electric SUV is likely to go on sale by September-October 2025, six months after the launch of the Maruti Suzuki eVX.

The Toyota Urban SUV concept is based on the 27PL skateboard platform and will be built alongside its twin, the eVX. It will be offered with two battery options with up to 550 km of range and either a single or dual-motor configuration.

In terms of styling, the Urban SUV concept borrows design cues from the bZ compact SUV concept. It has C-shaped LED headlamps with an LED light bar, flared wheel arches and an LED light bar at the rear.
