Toyota Innova (Kijang) MPV facelifted in Indonesia

Indonesia is an MPV happy market, so much so that badge engineered versions of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, known as the Suzuki Ertiga and the Mazda VX-1, are sold in the Indonesian car market. MPVs such as the Toyota Innova (Kijang in Indonesia) and the Avanza are other big draws in Indonesia.

The Innova (Kijang) MPV has gotten its third major facelift in the Indonesian car market and has just gone on sale in that part of the world. As India is one of the major markets for the Toyota Innova, the facelift could make its way into the Indian car market in the next year or so. Toyota facelifted the India-spec Innova about a year and a half ago, at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo.

So, the next Auto Expo, to be held in early 2014, could be the place where the latest version of the Innova for the Indian market is unveiled. Coming to the various changes on the facelifted model of the 2014 Innova, the MPV gets a new front end with a much larger chrome splashed grille, new bumpers and chrome surrounds for the fog lamps.

At the rear, a new bumper and a large chrome embellishment runs across the width of the hatch lid. On the inside, the top end variants of the Innova get a new audio system while twin Airbags and ABS+EBD become standard on all variants of the Indonesian Innova/Kijang.

Mechanically, the MPV remains unchanged with a 2 liter petrol engine outputting 136 PS-183 Nm and the 2.5 liter D-4D turbo diesel engine outputting 102 PS-200 Nm continuing to drive the rear wheels of the Innova. While a 5 speed manual gearbox is standard, the higher variants of the petrol engined 2014 Innova can be specified with a 4 speed automatic gearbox.
