Took my Yamaha RZ 350 on its first maiden long ride post restoration

The plan was to ride too town meet up with the gents from the Bombay RD Club.

Guardian angel rides with the widowmaker

Today morning I set out for the maiden long ride on the RZ and the plan was to ride too town meet up with the gents from the Bombay RD Club and then visit Sumant at OCD to discuss the paint scheme for baby RD’s. However, as I reached my friends place in Nana chowk I noticed oil dripping from the left side and initially I thought the fork seal had popped but at closer inspection it was confirmed it was from the engine near the gear shifter and in most probability the oil seal behind the front sprocket has popped out. The scary bit was when I saw the the rear tyre and the left side had oil on it as well and that is when I realised how lucky I was that the rear tyre didn’t slip because of it. So, I knew I couldn’t ride the bike back home and the flat bed had to be called again which would take another 1.5 hrs to arrive. So, we decided to leave the bike at my friend’s place and proceed for breakfast on my friend's bike instead.

Now, the bike is again with Tony and he will get it sorted hopefully by tomorrow after which I can collect it and have to now plan when to unveil it to the family as I will be travelling later this week.

Some pictures…

Marking its territory on its maiden run

Finding the source of the leak

And if that wasn’t enough had some coolant spay off as well but that was during my run last night while returning home in peak traffic

My most dreaded situation oil leaking and getting sprayed on the tyre. Can’t thank my guardian angels enough…

Its only on the left side and not on the centre patch

Parked it till the tow truck arrives

Gets on the flatbed finally

As it goes on the side stand it leaks more oil

Securing it down firmly for the butter smooth Mumbai roads back home

Up she goes again. The last time was back in September last year.

Gravel and mud to soak the oil

The tow truck guy was the same gent who took it back in September and was like the bike is shinning now and couldn’t believe its the same bike

The amount of people who have approached me to ask about this bike in the last two days has been phenomenal old and young it’s a proper people’s magnet. There were a group of RX owners in Mahim and all of them were in awe after they spotted the bike at the signal where I was waiting.

The good side of getting your bike on a tow truck is you get to take it on the coastal road and enjoy the opening ceremony of the North bound lane

VVIP entry

At Tony’s place and leaks more oil as the side stand incline was a lot sharper. Was not expecting to do such a quick oil change
